Veolia is a French multinational company which activities are currently based around 4 main aspects of the environment: “water supply and water management”, “Energy”, “Transportation” and “waste management”.

The year 2007 carried revenues of $47bn for Veolia as it employed around 300,000 people within its facilities and services as reported by major magazines specialized in economics, Environment and in stocks exchange. Note that Veolia headquarters are currently based in Paris.

Between the years 2000 and 2003, Veolia Transport company was known by the name of Vivendi Environnement, due to its success in spinning off from the Vivendi conglomerate, mainly of the rest of which became “Vivendi”. Prior to the year 1998, Vivendi was popular by the name “Compagnie Générale des Eaux”.

Veolia Environment Sections:

Veolia Water is the world leader in water services, as it handles water and wastewater services for customers and clients in various industries and businesses, not to mention its involvment in the public sector. Veolia also stars in creating and constructing the necessary technology and infrastructure.

As of 2009, Veolia Water recorded a revenue total of €12.56 bn aside employing 95800 people. Note that Veolia Water services are operated in 66 nations around the globe.

Veolia Environmental Services ranks 2nd as the best in the world in waste management services; in addition to the environmental and logistics services, Veolia succeeded in treating and in converting dangerous and harmless waste in healthy ways.

The main goal of Veolia Environmental services was to decrease pollutants in waste, to diminish the environmental effects of these toxic wastes and to promote for waste recycling and recovery. Note that the company employs around 86000 people in 33 countries with revenues that exceed €9.1 billion.

Veolia Energy (Dalkia)  is working hard o maximise facilities’ energy and environmental efficiency as its services and goals are based on maintaining and managing heating and cooling systems in addition to making plants that are more energy efficient, not to mention the selection of the most adapted energies. As of 2009, Dalkia had revenues of €7.1 billion thanks to the efforts of its 52577 employees in 42 countries, mainly located around Europe.

West Carrollton plant explosion is a Veolia Environmental Service’s plant located in Ohio as of 2009; the plant counts on two buildings which operated as aboratories and a warehouse that contained around 200,000 gallons of chemical tanks. The Veolia Environmental Service’s plant handles fuel blending in addition to the other main services. The explosion that happened within the plant injured 2 workers at the plant and amounted a $50 million of damages to the plant itself. The blast was so intense that even homes located with up to a mile radius from the blast were damaged as well.

Veolia Transport is currently employing around 78000 people ; the section of transportation at Veolia was efficient enough to generate a revenue of €5.86 billion in 27 countries located in Europe, in North America and in Asia. Veolia Transport operates with the public authorities under public and private partnerships for the purpose of managing public transit systems such as buses, metros, TGV, trains, ferries and more…
